Redmond Parks & Recreation’s Spring Dance Recital will take place Saturday, May 25, 2013, 11:00am (Memorial Day weekend). Recital is optional but please let me know if you do not want your child to participate or have a conflict. There is not a recital for the fall classes - most students continue classes in the spring, but we do not start working on recital until February. TICKETS Tickets are now on sale at the front desk (including credit card) and online at https://www2.redmond.gov/econnect/Activities/ActivitiesAdvSearch.asp course number #46386. Tickets are $5/person. Please purchase tickets by Thursday, May 23rd. Dancers and parent helpers do not need a ticket, nor do lap kids. Your dancer will sit with his/her class, do NOT hold a seat for them. DRESS REHEARSAL FRIDAY, MAY 24 Both the rehearsal and recital will be held at the Redmond High School, Performing Arts Center, 17272 NE 104th St. For both dress rehearsal and recital day, please help your child get dressed, either at home or by arriving early at the high school. Please bring your cameras as you will have the opportunity to take a group shot on stage. Rehearsal is not the order of the show, the schedule is done with families with siblings and multiple pieces in mind as well as getting the younger classes done first. Dress rehearsal will last about 45 minutes, you only need to be there at the arrival time listed for your class, listed below.
Recital Day - Saturday, May 25th 11:00 a.m. Recital will be held at the Redmond High School, Performing Arts Center, 17272 NE 104th St (direction below). Please arrive ready to go no later than 10:40. Drop off your dressed dancer (please check shoes and take them to the restroom beforehand) with the designated parent volunteer at 10:45 a.m. in their designated seats. They will stay together with their class and watch before and after their turn from the audience, (there is no need to hold a seat for them). Unless they perform near the end, they will come back into the audience to watch after their piece is over. After the show, check in with the parent volunteer to pick up your child from their seating area. The show will run about an hour. The tentative order is listed below but PLEASE STAY to watch the other dancers and support everyone. There will be a cookie and punch reception following the performance.
COSTUME/HAIR/MAKEUP For Terrel's kid/teen classes, there is a flat costume fee of $32 which includes taxes, shipping, extra ordering (I will sell extras at a bargain during the recital and in class the week following), and returns, as well as averaging across kid/teen classes. If this fee is a hardship for your family, please let me know; otherwise, please pay $32 by check to Terrel Lefferts or cash any time before 5/17. Costumes are yours to keep. Kid dancers can do a little pink lipstick and light blush and mascara IF you would like. To be listed prior to recital is what I recommend to wear along with costume/dance shoes, however you do not need to buy anything; this is a small, informal event for Redmond Parks and Rec dancer families. Students should also bring their dance shoes. There will be a free tights bin (used) at classes the week of 5/17 if anyone needs tights. (If you have old, too-small tights, please add them.)
Students
with 2 or more pieces will leave costumes backstage and change there – please
be sure to label costumes and shoes – I recommend a layer underneath if you
have multiple pieces. Kids who are in two classes - please coordinate with parent volunteers before the show.
Teen/adult classes will be responsible for themselves.
CAMERAS/RECORDERS PARENT VOLUNTEERS I still need helpers for Tumble (Monday 2:15) and Magical Monkey (Thursday's Danceplay). We are looking for parent volunteers to help us monitor the kids. Parent volunteers sit with the class and help them onstage, watching the piece from backstage and then help students back to their seats. Please let me know if you will be able to help out. Parent volunteers should arrive at 10:30 on recital day, and be there 10 minutes early for class dress rehearsal.
